How to Choose the Perfect Blush

How to Choose the Perfect Blush

What is the reason for blush? Blush makes your face glow….it brightens up your face and can even make you look less tired.

There are so many options and colors though. So, how is a girl to choose? How do you know which one is the right one for you?

For starters, you should be aware of your skin tone.  Once you have that down, you’re ready to start working on your blush color.

If you have a chance, look at yourself in the mirror after you go for a run or workout? What color are your cheeks? That is your natural “blush” color.

So, let’s start with ivory and light skin tones. Soft pink is a great choice for you.

Olive skin tones should have a warm undertone. These colors are spice colored. These colors are rich so it shows up and looks amazing on your skin.

Ebony and bronze skin tones should use a color such as apricot because it gives your skin a healthy glow. However, you can be more dramatic with your color choices and use something with a red tone to it for dramatic flair.

The point of blush isn’t to look like a china doll with pink circles, but to give your skin a “glow” that makes you look healthy and alive! So experiment with your options and find the one that makes you look amazing!

10 Sun Protection Tips For Summer

10 Sun Protection Tips For Summer

It’s that time of year again! Beaches, pools, and all kinds of sunny outdoor activities. That also means protecting yourself from the summer rays. Here are 10 tips to make sure you get to enjoy all that summer has to offer without sacrificing your outdoor time.

  1. Put your sunscreen on before you put on your clothes to make sure you don’t miss any spots. It is also good to put it on in advance like this because sunscreen needs a good 20 minutes to soak into your skin and get absorbed.
  2. Don’t rely on your makeup for sun protection coverage. While it is a good extra, you would need to apply quite a bit to get that protection. Instead, apply a sunscreen under your makeup. Then, feel free to apply your foundation and powder in confidence.
  3. Buy new sunscreen. I know, I get it. I am a cheapskate sometimes too, and have bottles leftover from last summer. However, sunscreen loses it’s potency over time so your protection level actually decreases. Just throw away the old bottle and buy a new one so you can live in confidence that you are fully protected.
  4. Don’t be afraid of breakout- use it on your face. Look for one that doesn’t contain oil if your skin is prone to breakouts. Also, make sure you wash your face because sweat getting left on your face is a more likely culprit for those awful summer breakouts.
  5. Buy travel size containers of sunscreen to throw in your purse or luggage so that you are never caught without.
  6. Don’t forget your scalp. Find a spray sunscreen to spritz your scalp. The UV rays can penetrate your hair and still manage to burn the tender skin underneath. If you just can’t manage that, then wear a cute summer hat to protect yourself.
  7. Reapply sunscreen every 80 minutes. It isn’t a “one and done” procedure. It wears off and is completely absorbed. So set an alarm on your phone and reapply between Instagram selfies.
  8. The harshest rays are between 10 and 2. Try to limit complete exposure to before and after these times. There is nothing worse than putting on that adorable sundress for dinner and wondering if it clashes with your bright red skin.
  9. Remember that water will intensify the sun’s rays. So while you’re lounging by the pool and the beach, try to remember that the water is working like a magnifying glass for the UV’s rays.
  10. Apply sunscreen BEFORE insect repellent. Also, remember to be aware that repellent with DEET can reduce the effectiveness of sunscreen and you may have to reapply both more often.

There you have it! Follow these 10 tips and you are sure to make the most of your outdoor time this summer and create wonderful memories!
